It's 8 years old; so, I extracted the oil from the Frontier RC2048 cutter gear box and replaced it with new GL5 stuff. There was some water initially at the bottom.

I'd read posts on here before about folks saying they had milky bush hog oil.

Guess it does not get hot enough to expel the tiny bit of oil that gets absorbed in it from gear box breathing hot/cold. The old LX4 would get pretty warm.

How did you "extract" the oil? If there is water in the lower bearing/seal area, only way to get it out is flip it on it's side.

I used an oil extractor with hand pump vacuum. The sucking part sticks down in one corner. First thing it picks up is any water, which would be on the bottom.

The fluid looked great once it sucked that little bit of water and stuff in between. Not much of it.
