EZ-Hitch \"The best accessory\"

The first obstacle to using our towing unit is hooking it up, guiding me over the ever elusive trailer hitch ball, only to tell me that I needed to be an inch in one direction or the other. Just before our vacation in July, I found an item called the EZ-Hitch. I had seen them on the Internet, but did not know anyone who had used one. I purchased one. It is the greatest accessory I have ever purchased. I had previously purchased the Align-Quik magnetic backing guide, discussed at length on the old forum (archives). With the Align-Quik, I could get close, but not quite over the ball. However, with the EZ-Hitch, I slowly back up and make contact with the trailer tongue. By the time I hear the metal contact, the tongue has glided in place over the ball. I set the brake, get out, and lower the tongue onto the ball. It is that simple. It is now a one-person job, with no stress.

The installation was quite simple and only required removing and reinstalling the hitch ball.

They are available at several sites on the Internet at varying prices. Knowing how easy this makes hooking up.

I'm NOT real good at backing up. Can one of those Vs be made a little wider, say 5 foot? /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Re: EZ-Hitch \"The best accessory\"

I have an EZmover and when I'm backing up, I drop the tractor into low range and 1st gear. That way the movement is slow, but I can react and get lined up with little trouble. As I approach the hitch, I have one hand on the 3pt lift control. I almost never have to pull away and realign.

Are you talking about the EZ-mover hitch that goes on your 3pt hitch? That's not the same thing as the poster is talking about.

This goes on the trailer at the hitch ball so that when you're backing your tow vehicle and can't see the hitch, it hits the sides of this attachment and pushes the hitch over the ball, aligning it for hook up.

I have the EZ mover also, but that's a piece of cake on a tractor because you can SEE the trailer hitch when you're backing. I can't see my hitch or even my trailer for that matter when I'm backing the Suburban for hook up, but I have a system that puts me right there almost every time.

This is the same ad that was on horsetrailertalk last week.
Same wording, different pen name.
Muhammed needs to chuck this one off.

Re: EZ-Hitch \"The best accessory\"

My "system" is beyond simple, and cheap. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif I had a 4' or 5' piece of bamboo that came with a potted tree I purchased. I happened to throw it on the trailer after planting the tree and then had the bright idea to use it for backing up to the trailer. I just lean it up against the hitch (as plumb as it will get without falling over) and then line it up from the driver's seat with my windshield wiper housing on my rear glass (which happens to be centered on the vehicle and directly above the receiver hitch). I can back up to within an inch or so and then just pick up the trailer (tandem axle car hauler) and move it on to the ball. More of a slide than a lift, but it gets the trailer on the ball. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Re: EZ-Hitch \"The best accessory\"

There is an outfit somewhere that sells similar type of system. Its a set of poles with a magnet on one end and a flag on the other. Stickem on and back up until they meet.
