I prefer something that can be undone if needed.

Use your tractor for mowing your lawn?
While I have the 914A mmm, I usually use my WheelHorse garden tractor. The TC25D is just too heavy, even without the wheel weights, to cut the lawn except after an extended period of no rain. I learned this after I bought the TC25D. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif Something I didn't consider.

My R4s are loaded, it makes a HUGE difference. No need for wheel weights. My dealer says that each tire holds between 350 and 400 lbs.
The Operator's Manual isn't real clear on how much weight can be added. While the bottom of Page 2-27 indicates that rear wheel weights can be used with liquid ballast, Page 2-29 indicates "Never exceed the total recommended weight for the tractor." The maximum appears to be two 75 pound weights per wheel, total of 300 pounds.

Mike,
Looks good. I am sure that you will enjoy the difference that they will make. Nice clean bracket Daryl made for you.

None of the farmers in my family fill their tires. The reasons they give are

1. If you have to change the tire or track it's a big pain; wheel weights come off more easily.

2. If you don't put enough antifreeze in there you could have a major problem if you freeze the tire.

So since I'm lazy I had the dealer put a full set of weights on when I originally bought the thing and it will stay like that unless something makes me change my mind.

Jerry, we got about 8 inches of heavy snow over the past 24 hours and I spent 2.5 hours plowing with the FEL this morning. For an idea of just how heavy the snow is, a wheel loader just went by plowing our road. They usually plow our road with a single axle dump truck.

I plowed our driveways (house and barn) as well as two neighbors driveways. One is a widow with cancer while the other neighbor has a long driveway which they typically do with shovels. It doesn't take me that long to do their driveway, plus then I don't feel guilty when I dump some of the snow from my driveway on their side of the road. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I enjoyed the safer feel when lifting a FEL load of snow, but the thing that I was really pleased with was the added 'pushing' power. My TC25D used to lose traction easily, requiring me to use 4WD almost all the time when plowing. Today, the only time I needed to use 4wd was when I was plowing in fresh snow plus I could push the snow in the road easily. The interesting thing was when plowing on the road in front of our house. When the FEL became full, and I started to push the snow (kind of like the wheel loader who just went by /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif ). The snow actually began to curl in front of the bucket, as if I was using standard snow plow. Last year, without the weights, I could never have pushed that much snow.

I am very pleased with the weights and the improvement they make.
