F 20 D 4 wheel drive.

I am not able to find the lever to shift my tractor between 2 and 4 wheel drive. Is it a full time 4 wheel drive set up? I know it is in 4 wheel drive at this time because when I make a sharp turn with out using the brakes the front wheels dig and slip in pulling the front around.

I had one last year and I thought the same thing. Check way down low under the seat by your feet.

My FX20D has the shifter on the right side down by the floor. Down is two wheel and up is four wheel.

What I believe is the differential lock is on the right side at the rear of the running board. It has a pedal that you push down with your right heal and pull it back up with a lever that is attached to the same shaft and extends up ward.
today I found something else that may be the 4WD lever. It is just about under the center of the seat near the top of the differential houseing and is attached to a shaft that goes in to the housing its on the left side and the handle shaft is about 4 inches long. The knob is missing and it is froze up and will not move .

I am not much of an expert on Japanese but I have figured out that the symbol or letter that looks like our cursive capital Y is the 4wd in the engaged position. I have noticed that it is the same on all of the Isekis and Yanmars I've had so far. Don't know if you have the stickers still on your tractor but that's what I've found out from experience. Wish I could read the Japanese writing /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

stnickstoys. Most of the stickers are gone on mine. However My wife of over 42 years is from Japan and I have a parts manual on order for it that is in Japanese. The UPS man tried to deliver it but we were not home. Hopefully it will answer a lot of questions.

Well I got my Yanmar F20 D parts manual in Japanese today. Its a good book with lots of pictures and numbers. Funny thing is its written in english words with Japanese characters.. For example when I asked my wife what a certain title over a break down of parts said she said It says "front drive parts"I pointed to the gear shift lever and asked what it said. She says "Gear shift lever." I told her that she could do a translation of these books and make some mony and she said no thanks. actually she is in pretty bad health. She had Lymphoma cancer 2 years ago, she seems to have whipped that but she also has diabetis, kidney failure and congestive heart failure. She has poor eye sight and poor hearing. I still think she could do it. I could scan it and blow it up so she could see it and we could put it all on a CD and sell that. Trouble is I dont know if it would be legal or if it would be in violation of copyright laws.
At least I now know where the front wheel drive engagment is.. If anybody has any questions on the F20d I should be able to help them at least.
