Anyone store their F tractor with the deck flipped up during the winter to save room? The only issue I can see is the gearbox might leak for some reason.

I need to change the gearbox fluid in the spring anyway, so I might do this either way.

Just curious if anyone had any bad experiences storing that way?

I store mine flat, since i remove mine from the machine to install the Snow Blower, but i wouldn't hesitate leaving it flipped up. Just remove from PTO and you might want to remove the belt spring for the winter

In mine, the 90 degree gearbox input and output shaft oil seals are identical and do not leak with the deck in either position.

I replaced all 4 tapered roller bearings and 2 oil seals last year just as a preventive maintenance due to minor slack in the bearings.

I store mine flat and roll it under my camper for the winter, where it's out of the way. I think you'd be fine storing it vertical. If the seals were to leak from storing it this way you'd probably have gear oil leaking during use also.

Don't see an issue if the deck is flipped up according to the manual. Disconnect the drive shaft and then flip it up. I to store mine flat, but also have enough room.

Store mine flat, but like was said earlier if it leaked while up it would probably leak while using it.
