I was working with the tractor today and had it idling while I was moving some stuff out of the way and I noticed that the radiator was blowing steam out of the relief tube at connected to the fill port on the radiator. The needle was at the top end of the green, and there wasn't much liquid blowing out of the radiator.

I shut it down immediately, let it cool down, and check the fluid level, which was good. I then noticed the fan belt was off and in rough shape.

Does anyone know what length belt I need and what needs to be removed to replace the belt?

Thanks!

Its an oddball size. I went to the local auto parts store with my old one in hand one time. They couldn't match it. I ordered a new one from Hoye.

Thanks, MesaAZguy. I'll order a new one from Hoye on Monday. Do you remember what you had to do to replace the belt?

I had my tractor apart for some cosmetic refurbishment. With the hood and radiator out of the way, it was a simple job. Loosened the alternator adjustment nut and the belt was loose enough to come out. I had replaced all rubber hoses while I was in there.

Nice looking tractor! I thought I had to take the radiator off. Not a problem, it is the last fluid that I need to change anyway. Did you but original radiator hoses or just pick generic hoses from an autoparts store?

Also, did you have the ROPS fabricated or did you modify one from Hoye?? I talked with Hoye about a ROPS and they did not think any they had in stock would work. I live on a side hill, so a ROPS is a top priority for me.

I appreciate the help you've given thus far. I have 15 yards of stone dust coming tomorrow, so I need to get on this ASAP.

I buy everything from Hoye. The radiator hoses are generous in size so don't worry if you feel it needs to be cut down a tad. I also put in Evans waterless coolant since I had a ton of it from my British car days. Hoye's shipping usually takes three days at most if I select the Priority mail option. The ROPS was there when I bought the tractor. I added the front supports and finally had it powder coated in a textured semi-gloss coating. I did the wheels in an Anthracite grey to give it a modern look. Its my little workhorse and toy. I keep my things looking new since I know I can't afford to replace them!

Yea just loosen the belt through the alternator and slip it over the fan. You may have to loosen the shroud I was thinking its close on my ym2000.

But if you know how to order belts you can order it by the width and length or any auto or store well stocked in v belts may have it. Auto parts stores may not have it though cause its awfully short to be used in most modern auto applications, that well and most "modern" auto applications in like 20+ years don't use V belts.

Thanks clemsonfor. In the end, I removed the radiator. The belt was behind the radiator hoses. The belt was shredded pretty badly, but still in once piece. I contacted Hoyes for the Radiator hoses, but they were not coming up under any numbers he looked under. Luckily, the hoses are solid outside and in. I did order the belt, and I'll match it up at a local auto parts store once it comes in so that I can get a replacement in a lot less time.

I changed my hoses on my 276D. Only 1 fit. I ended up at the Parts store with the old hoses, and was able to eventually find ones with similar bends. I cut the ends to fit.
I AM NOT BLAMING A PARTICULAR VENDOR. In fact, I can't remember who I purchases from.

many times in situations like this I order 2. One as a spare. Or keep that bad one. If it at least was working some
