F2690
I am new to the forum and have done a search on the site but couldn't find a previous thread that addressed my question/concern. I bought a F2690 last year (it is an older one) and since I have owned it when it cuts it leaves a strip of uncut grass about 1" on the left side of the deck about 1/4 of the way across. I am currently using it to cut around the creek and trees. When I cut going backwards it does not seem to leave the strip. I worked on the deck last year looking for any defects in the deck around that area. I have not found one. Has anyone heard of this issue and have any suggestions to resolve.

I am wondering if there are any Kubota Fseries guys in the middle Tennessee area. I would like to bring this fine machine back to a good running machine again. It has about 1500 hours on it so it needs refreshing and I am willing to put the time in it just looking for guidance and direction.

I am unclear how wide the uncut strip of grass is -- if I interpret your description correctly it is 1" wide and located around 1/4 of the overall deck width in from the left side. Assuming that is true, most such abnormalities with mower decks are due to bent or missing pieces of the baffles or sheet metal guides underneath.

Larger uncut strips have been known to be caused by a loose blade (either outer or center blade.) So I would check the guides/baffles underneath and make sure all the blades are tight and not loose.

Since you bought it used, I would also measure and make sure all the blades are the same length. Hard to imagine but possibly the former owner replaced one blade with one too short. Of course they are designed to provide slight overlap in left-right cutting path, thus leaving no strips of uncut grass. Do the blades all look good? One being damaged might cause a strip to be uncut. Your cutting backwards changes "which of the blades gets to the grass first" in that inner overlap area which may be a clue to the problem.

Having 1500 hrs on it and unknown history I would go ahead and replace the blades which may or may not fix your symptom.

Good points I agree, the first thing I would do is to flip up the deck and see if the mower blades are the correct length, holding bolts or nuts tight & blades reasonably sharp?

There is supposed to be small gap in-between the blade ends to keep them from touching each other.
