2002 CC, dually, ~150K. Bought used w/ 120K in Jan 2012. Primarily used to tow about 10K 4 times a year, 900 miles on interstate to where I'm retiring in Mississippi and tow the trailer back. So 90% highway miles now and for years.

Heard a noise, brakes become spongy, got it home. Checked front drivers side (rears had been done at dealership just after purchase).

Figure bondo and duct tape won't do.

Looking for recommendations on calipers, rotors, etc. plan on doing both sides, trying to keep costs down.

Also plan on replacing the darn unit bearings while I'm in there (or somebody I hire).

Been looking at O'Reilly's offerings, want metal pistons.

thanks in advance.

Be leave it or not stock Ford OEM parts have done me well, except for the rotors. I have had several warp and it was recommended to me that next set be the slotted cryofreeze ones that are better against heat warping.

As for O'Reilly's - I have had excellent experience with their parts and some pain - I have had to replace two of their Escape overflow bottles in two years. They honored the warranty, but still a pain to replace.

When my calipers were shot... I rebuilt them and the kits were only a few dollars... that was back in 1995... so far, still good.

On my G20 Chevrolet Van I have only used OEM front brake pads... they are easy on the rotors and stop well...

Just did caliper brackets on my f250, they looked ok, but needed it, slides rusty. Autozone had them reasonably.

The rebuild kits I looked at were o-rings etc. I wouldn't even try a rebuild kit for the damage I have.

I'm guessing no snow and mild climate makes a difference...

I use to rebuild my wheel cylinders and no longer do so because last go round I was able to buy OEM with a resale card for about $6 each.

On some of the classics... have gone to the trouble to have stainless inserts machined into the calipers... supposed to be lifetime.
