I am looking at F5720 snowblower for my F3080 (see separate post in Kubota Owning and Operating section).

Does anyone have one of these 57" blowers? If so, are you happy with build quality?

Thanks

This is the one I bought last year, works very sell, used it now maybe 15 hours, no issues. Very quick to install and blows 50 to 65 feet depending on wind and snow conditions. These are gear drive (no chains) so should have good long life expectancy.
About all you'd want to do is add rear weight.

Thanks for the quick response.

Did you buy the drift cutters?

How much rear weight are you using? I have the standard rear weight (approx 106 lbs) and the dealer added a second smaller weight (? 40 lbs).

I posted a second question in another section concerning snow/salt from wheels on battery. Do you have this problem?

Hi Lyle,
I didn't invest in the drift cutters, didn't see a huge need, my drifts usually are only 2 to 3" higher than the blower housing. So I make a second pass I snow spills over the top.
As for weights, I didn't like the suitcase weights which were installed by my dealer so I purchased a second 106Lbs factory weight and installed it (flipped it over) on top of the existing weight. This gives me 212Lbs total vs 226 with suitcase set-up, but I have a shorter swing-out when negotiating in tight spots.
I have included a few shots for you. Also check out the other posts I have where I discussed this with RIP.
Hope this helps...

Regarding a battery cover, this is a very good idea. I was considering doing this as well. Not so much for salt though but more to protect the battery from snow building up on top of it. This should be a relatively easy mod. If you do it first, let me have a picture of it so I can have some idea.
I have a small tin bender and some material on hand... We'll see how soon i can get to this

Thanks Dan for the additional info. I have already copied one of your photos so I can take it to my dealer to show him :)

Hi Dan. How did you attach the second (upside down) weight? Are holes pre-drilled for that purpose or did you drill/tap them yourself?
Thanks

Hey Pete,

I didn't like the existing plate that was bolted to the end of the frame, it looked too thin so I cut and installed a 1/4" thick plate. Then all I needed to do was drill pocket holes in the back side of the add-on counterweight so that it would fit up tight against the end of frame, I used 2 x 1/2" bolts about 3" long if memory serves me right, and bolted the add-on weight to the existing lower weight. Last, I used bondo to fill the huge pockets on the top weight, made it look better and water can't pool-up in the hole. This set-up really helps when turning around in tight spots.

hope this helps you. I have a complete set of suitcase weight to give away of anybody wants them, and a mounting bracket too...

Thanks Dan.
I am getting a smaller weight that'll bolt onto the existing weight, just like you did. If I'm not happy with it, i can exchange it for the same you have. According to the dealer i wont "need" it, but since i was doing some good negotiating, i figured i might as well have them. They also said, to take the extra weight off for the summer since it's harder on the steering and suspension.
Do you know anyone that has rigged up a trailer hitch?
