I guess I wasn't entirely accurate. I did inadvertently use an "additive" once. My dad had a motor home with a carbureted 454. It had a random hiccup that would occur every now and then at highway speeds and acceleration. He had his own in ground tanks and fuel pump. Once when I was young he told me to fill up the tank as we were getting ready for a trip. I accidentally grabbed the diesel nozzle (it was one for gas, not the specific one for diesel). I had pumped quite a few gallons in before I realized what I had done. As soon as I figured it out I stopped and told him. At that point there wasn't much that could be done easily, so he finished filling it with gas and hoped for the best. We took it on a long trip and had zero issues. Even better the random hiccup was cured as well.
I'll have to pick up a can of Seafoam and see what happens. I've always been afraid that those additive things will attack something (gaskets, seals, hoses, etc). or do some other not-so-good things and then I'd end up with worse problems than I had.
Jaxs, I did think about seeing if something is available through Yanmar. Admittedly, I haven't looked. It's been my experience that JD likes to put special components on what would otherwise be a standard engine. The oil pan on the Kohler in the JD 400 lawn tractor is a good example. Don't ask how I know. The trick is figuring out which Yanmar variant is closest to the unit used in the F900 series mowers. I'm not certain how to sort that out.
