First time user: I replaced all the fuel lines including the pick up lines in the tanks, the fuel filter, cleaned out the tanks and put in new fuel. Original problem was when mowing it would run for approximately 10 minutes then die. Pick up lines were rotted. After re-assembling I wrongly hooked up two lines. I went to a website and got a diagram for routing the lines. Went through the process of bleeding air from lines. Finally got it to start and run with switch on right tank. Switched to left tank and it stalled. Turned key on and went through the process to bleed it and could not get fuel to pump. Switched back to right tank to bleed it and try starting it and could not get fuel to pump. What are my options? Wrong routing diagram for my unit? Fuel pump bad? Solenoid? Switches for tanks? Fuel pump makes clicking noises. Solenoid makes a contact noise. Don't know what year my unit is but it is a F935 72" front mower with a 3 cylinder Yanmar diesel engine Serial # MOF935X170293 (y or 4?) Any help would be appreciated. Eighteen acres of grass getting long enough to bale. Thank you. B:confused3:

Is your solenoid for the injector pump releasing? Open the hood. On the injector pump there is a solenoid for fuel shut off. Sometimes those solenoids break down and release there magnetism and it shuts the fuel off. When the key is turned to the on position that solenoid should such the linkage in and if it releases while running the tractor that solenoid let's go and the linkage comes back out.

I have the same mower, (The 935 has two tanks) and had the hard fuel lines inside the tanks crack and break away. All this caused the fuel pump to fail when the air caused overheating of the fuel pump. I bought a new one from an auto parts store. Its a metal can type and runs with a humming sound when the key is on.

You can test the system easily with just one tank plumbed. Skip the transfer valve. Just run a suction line from one of the tanks to the fuel pump. Then a line to the water separator. A return line from the injector gallery can just be spilled back into the tank. I also use some clear tubing to feed the water separator bleed overflow back to the tank when removing the air in it. I have a conventional fuel filter plumbed before the new fuel pump.

I think I bought the fuel pump from O'reilly Parts. I bolted it onto the right hand side radiator shroud behind the seat. Electrical connector must be patch in to the old connector. Keep in mind that the fuel gage switch just reads the tank selected, not the tank being drawn from. You may believe a tank is full but if it's not selected from the tank selector valve you will never get fuel picked up.

Once you have good pressure to the water separator, the fuel shutoff open (need to sit on the seat or put a cement block on it), and the injectors bled (keep a 17mm wrench handy for future 'run out of fuel conditions'), it will begin to try to start on 1 then 2 then 3 cylinders.

The learning experience is "DON'T RUN IT OUT OF FUEL".
