After having to make two trips anytime I needed to move a pile of manure, I can now pull my tractor behind my dump truck and get it all in one move! Still need to add hooks for the safety chains though...

Nice job! Didn't they use to call those ICC bumpers, hitches? When I was in high school I worked in a trailer repair shop, I had to make those and weld them on trailers and trucks.

Do you have any reinforcement behind the plate at the hitch? There will be vertical and horizontal stress on the hitch in addition to forward/backward.
If you are depending on just the plate it won't be strong enough. 3/4" or 1" plate would be almost enough but that looks like 1/4". ???

I agree with Stimw, that you need some strong reinforcement behind that pintle hitch.
That thin plate by itself isn't strong enough, IMO. The plate will flex back and forth with the weight of the heavy trailer/tractor behind it, and could result in failure.

You might want to take it by someone qualified that can physically look at it and determine if it's safe or not. :)

X 100! I spent nearly two decades on a line construction crew as a Journeyman Lineman and that involved driving the tandem digger trucks and tandem bucket trucks both of which were used to pull heavily loaded tandem wheeled pole and material trailers (I had to have a Class 1-A licence.) All those trucks had a MUCH more substantial hitch setup, even the early ones but on them cracks would occasionally start around the mounting holes for the pintle hook just from the small amount of constant flexing they experienced. Those rather beefy hitches had to be made even heavier. I wouldn't even attempt to pull anything on a public roadway with that hitch as shown.

Maybe the OP did something like this. This is the last hitch I built for myself. For a 1-ton Dodge.
