scag turf tiger 61" #2, gx95, sold f525 twice, f725 sold
Good morning all. I really don't have a 'current' need for a box blade, but saw this for sale and started to think about it. Have not seen it in person, and the only info I can find on it would be it weights just over 500 lbs which sounds very light for a 7ft'er. If purchased it would not be abused (intentionally), but I would like it not to fall apart after only a few uses. So what is a fair price for a used, light duty 7 footer?

I wish everyone a wonderful new year!

If you don't really have a need for it, I wouldn't bother. I think something like that would be great for putting on the back of the tractor during the winter, and using it to drag snow away from the garage doors, but that's about it. I think with the size, and extreme light weight, it wouldn't be effective at very much.

It would have to be really cheap before I'd even think about it....say $250 or less. Around here, you can buy solid 6' box blades on Craiglist, or at auctions all day long for $3-500, and I just saw a used, but decent looking 7' for $550 (asking).

Central FL is not exactly known for farming (unless you count for tourists...) so they are less prevalent around here. May I ask what you meant by "solid"?

To me it appears as though the rippers on the right side (of the picture) might be angled and/or twisted (some, but not a lot), if so would that have a large effect on use?

To me, solid is faded paint, no worse than light surface rust in some spots, no major bends in anything (slight tweaks happen), and no major welds.

7' box blades are less common than 5 and 6 footers, so that can influence price a bit, but most folks wanting/needing a 7' model are going to want it heavy....probably at least 600lbs.

Two of the rippers on the right do look like they could be slightly twisted, but that can be the slots they ride in, or the pin holes going through them as well....hard to say. If they're not terribly out of alignment I wouldn't worry too much.
