My 4310 work has mostly been a solo project but this past week I enlisted the aid of the wife and daughter. We are repairing the ground from a demolished building and required tilling, some mild front end loader work, fertilizing, spreading grass seed and some harrow cover up work. The wife is an Iowa farm girl who somehow missed much seat time due to two older brothers. The daughter never was on a tractor before.

The wife had a great time at the helm and gained full control of the loader and PTO in short order. The daughter saw Mom having fun and had to participate. She mastered things in no time. I sent her off to harrow the acre plus and I just kept hearing her giggle as she saw what she was accomplishing. Brings me new enjoyment as a CUT owner. Bad news is that my seat time has been cut!

I'm with you Thomas. Our family is almost always together building fence, riding, haying, planting, combining, etc. I would take my two little girls over just about any grown man, except the retired farmer that helps me, for help. I truly believe the second greatest demise of this country is the disappearance of the family farm/ranch.

What's the first greatest demise?

I had plumbing "issues" last night. That would certainly been a solo effort. But minutes after setting the Backhoe in place, my friendy Operator showed up! She sure looks a lot better than I do on that thing. Quite a good operator, too. I told her about BenderKC, she said that we have sure done a lot more together, since we got her tractor.....

While shoeing my wifes horse he fired off a round (my fault) into my thigh that made life uncomfortable. As a result I asked my wife to help out with some light tractor work. Since that time, I find her moving the manure pile, floating the arena, pushing over scrub oak, and generally taking my seat time......just 'cause she likes it. God love a city girl that is willing to pony up like that.

Does that now mean that I can start looking for "my" new tractor? Maybe a 4710? Bigger? /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I tried that angle.. get a second tractor.. have the wife help.. do work in half the time.... no go.. I can hardly get her to look at -any- of my tractors.. let alone 'touch' them... he response was.. sell them.. get one big monster that will do the work faster...

I think I shed a tear when she said sell them...
