The Dynamo bearings may be worn out.:confused:

Do you have a PDF showing all the parts? If not send your email and you will receive one.

First off welcome to TBN.
Does the fan turn at all?..if so call you hear high pitch noise or grinding sound if so not good.
Have you check the belt for wear or slack?

I am with Egon. Try to take the belt off and spin the dynamo/alternator with hand. I had the bearing go bad and the belt eventually stopped and burned apart.
You can tell if the bearing is good or bad by turning it by hand.

The PDF's are in the mail. Let me know if you don't get them.

Suggest taking Dynamo apart. If the bearings are bad you may be able to replace them and not have to purchase a new alternator.:)

[Lubing them and hand turning may work but there is a good possibility they are damaged]

To remove dynamo it may be easier to remove hood, oil cooler and radiator.

On the dynamo there will be one well placed nut/bolt? that is difficult to get at. Bend a wrench to fit or, as others have done, use a ratcheting boxend.:D

Thanks again for your help. I got new bearings for the dynamo but forgot to order new gasket so I had to wait. got everything put back together and it is working fine, much cheaper than new dynamo. sure hope it lasts I don't look forward to putting that nut on the bottom on ever again. I don't know how you do it, I ended up putting enough grease on the nut that it stuck on the stud (finally) and was able to to get it started. I'm keeping that wrench you told me to bend just incase.
thanks again.
