I've got a grey silkie mix that hops up to attack me every time i go in the pen. i have an old shoe i keep at the door.. as soon as he fly's up I whack him and he rolls to the back of the pen and then stays there till I leave. Been like that for 2 ys now.

Horse = Dangerous at each end and uncomfortable in the middle.

My wife and I own 22 horses, most of them very loving and mild mannered. We have a red stud I decided to turn out. Well, he was excited to get out, turned and kicked both legs out, missing my face by about 1 inch. I litterally smelled the poop and mud in his hooves. Not long after that, my wife was kicked just above her knee while we were teasing a mare with a stud. She was on crutches for a while. You can never be too careful. We refuse to breed horses until I finish building a breeding stock and we never turn a horse out until we have a gate between us...we just reach over and unhook the halter. If it kicks out, it hits the gate (hopefully) and not us, providing a little more safety.
