I seen a thread on here the other day about when turning the steering the steering wheel keeps turning even though the tires are as far as they can go.Now my farm pro 2425 is doing that and cant find the thread again.Does anyone here know what is the problem that causes that.It steers fine but the steering wheel will keep turning? It is a 2003 model.Any help would be appreciated.

Blown piston seal in the steering cylinder? Blown/damaged vane/seal in the steering valve?

Got a mechanics stethoscope? If it is a blown piston seal in the cylinder, you should be able to hear the fluid flowing around the piston by listening to the cylinder case as someone turns the wheel with the steering hard over...

I'm sure you probably did this already, but did you check the fluid level in the reservoir? Does your Farm Pro have a separate reservoir for the steering? How about checking the filter screen to see if it's plugged up or not?
I know some guys have gone to a thicker fluid for the steering pump too. You might check those things after you check what Ron told you.

99 percent chance its the seal on the steering cylinder. I'll bet Tommy at affordable has a kit. not too bad a job to do. Not really necessary unless it gets hard to keep the tractor going straight.

I vote for the steering cylinder.

Thats kinda what i was wondering,If its ok to run like that.Cause it steers fine, just the wheel will keep turning. So it shouldn't hurt anything?

The oil just seeps past the seal on the piston and leaks out the return side. when it gets bad enough, it will get difficult to hold a straight line. I'd get the parts and then when you have nothing better to do or if and when it gets bad enough, you could rebuild the cylinder.

Could someone point me in the right direction to get this part and is there any info on how to fix this?

Whereas the cylinder diagnosis is quite common - and very likely correct - it would also pay to look for leakage beneath the hydrostatic controller. That's the device at the bottom of the steering column where four hoses connect. Jinma calls it the "steering machine ". One of my tractors - I think it was a Jinma - had a leak there that affected the steering. The bolts holding the bottom plate got loose enough for fluid to be forced out when I turned the steering wheel. Working clearance was tight, but I was able to tighten them all down with a box wrench. End of problem.

Our 2420 had that happen to it. The seal in the cylinder is pretty much junk chinese parts. You'll get replacements that are of better and longer lasting quality. I replaced mine and the steering's been fine since. It took about 1/2 to do. I'd rate it as a easy fix.
