just a update on my post from a couple of days ago. I thought i had found the problem. And actually ran the tractor for about 10 hours (moving snow). then the same problem started again. to update i have a farm pro 2425. i had thought the problem was a compression washer where the fuel line screws into the bulb assembly off of the tank. after the tractor quit i had thought that my make shift washer and teflon tape had failed so i replaced it. but it doesnt seem to work now. at this point i can bleed the air out of the fuel line start the tractor, the tractor will run for about 30 seconds then die. any thoughts on what the problem may be would be greatly appreciated. From what some of you folks said before, there is a screen that goes about 3" up into the fuel tank off of the bulb assembly. i am thinking that maybe this is plugged and pulling a vaccuum on the fuel line allowing air into the system. What do you think? any imput would be greatly appreciated. Also one other thing. I just bought a taskmaster titan. all the specs i read and dealer testimonials say this is a great tractor. what do you all think. Jake

If it's a fuel starvation problem you will need to narrow it down,Did you remove the fuel bowl assembly from the tank?check or clean the screen?also there is a fuel off and on lever on that same bowl assembly with 2-screws in it.Take the 2-screws out and see if any debris is in the small opening behind the valve, check the fuel line itself from the bowl assembly to the injector pump,I have seen the rubber collapse together. The injector pump is doing it's job once it gets fuel to it.This should be a easy fix.

Jake,

Unless you are dripping fuel, you probably have an obstruction, not an air leak. At this point, I'd just drain the tank, and start from the pump/hose connection and work all the way back to the tank. Check/clean all inline filters (i think there are 3), make sure nothing is clogging any hoses (rubber or any other debree), make sure no flashing obstructs fuel flow in sediment bowl/petcock, and that final inline filter that sticks up through tank. Won't take that long, and it is all covered. Even if you find something in the beginning, continue on and cover the whole fuel path. Might want to remove fuel tank, and flush any possible junk out, as well.

Edit: Well, it looks like Tommy types much faster than I /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif But, think we are saying pretty much the same thing /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Well I don't type that fast JohnS I think it just posted ahead of you,We are both saying the same thing. The tractor is starving for fuel.I have seen debris behind the petcock/valve which is not much of a opening and cause the starvation.Hopefully this
will take care of the problem. But just a note thats twice I got ahead of you with answers,so I guess I'm pretty fast with my one finger typing.

Either my slow typing or having too many windows open, and not completing the reply for sometime. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif Otherwise, we just established that we both get up early, to read email, etc. Given the timezone differance for you, even earlier!

Anyhow, hope this problem is solved.

there was a post about 1 or 2 months back that dealt with this extensively: as to possable causes and even the eventual fix (which turned out to be a broken injector pump Keyway and gear problem.) OH DON'T USE TEFLON TAPE! it clogs the screens mentioned below and above... Use some pipe dope rated for gas/oil.

1. remove all the hoses that are in the intake of the fuel line to the injector pump. there are several Banjo Fittings which have screens in them. (clogs up )

#2. remove the hole fuel bowl: then turn the petcock so fuel flows out, it should flow out a steady stream about size of 1/4" bolt. if not then there is probably a blockage above there in the screen or the petcock fitting.

#3. make sure the fuel filter is tight and not sucking any air there. may have to remove it and use some grease on the threads & seal.

#4 Make sure the injector pump has OIL to the level it is susposed to be, (see JohnS's Wed site for darn good photos and info.

Just like to add that I believe there is a small screen type filter inside the bango fitting that bolts to the injection pump that is part of the line from the sediment bowl to the injection pump.
