I know it's been touched on before, but what do you think of them ?
My situation is, I've got about 2.5 acres to mow about 10 times a year and at 599.00 ... ?
Thanks,

I don't know of anyone here who has bought one. I've got the FarmPro box blade, and I know of others who have the FarmPro rough cut mower.

I liked the price so I went to look at it, but I figured that the finish mower was going to be the implement that I used more than any other one I had, and I wanted the best quality for the price. I ended up with a First Choice mower, which is made by Sicma. It's the same price as the King Kutter at TSC, but quality is many times better.

Has anyone here bought a finish mower from Homier?

I too was attracted by that low price.. though every time I make it to a sale.. they have only brought one or two.. and they are gone.

Whats the worst? gearbox die? If so.. a new gearbox could probably be put on either by warranty.. or even if not.. still be cheaper all together than a KK one.

Since it is belt drive for the blades.. seems like alot less stress on the gearbox.. not like a rotary cutter where it is metal to metal all the way.

Hey guys:

I have a china finish mower, 5' one, it is belt drive and has a revers rotation, not good when it comes to finding replacement bolts as they are left hand metric thread! /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif and I need some (blade holding bolts.) the baldes are JUNK very brittle I've trashed 2 sets and the 3rd set which I orderd with mower is done for too! one little rock (like a #57 size) will distroy a blade.

the wheels are junk too. I've replaced the OEm ones one at a time with ones form harborfreight, (they have same type/size wheel listed as a caster and have better metal construction but same weak rubber/tube construction) belt was bad 2nd cutting too. so anyhow I did find NEW USA made blades for it at a somewhat local place (45mile drive each way) for 30 bucks for the set. I forget the brand ( ahh BIGBEE maybe?) but the blades will be going on early this spring. (I picked up the belt there too for 19.00 and it is held up good as it is a kevelar construction. the blades were a find when I went for the belt)

BUT the deck is BEEFY 1/4" or so thick never a worry about it "Rusting or Wearing out!" also I ordered a rear discharge but ended up getting a side discharge. so I have windrows if the grass gets very high, (not really a big deal though)my biggest concern is the bearings in the blade mounts seem very cheap. lots of bearing noise.

anyhow the homier ones were SIMILAR but not identical to the one I had. not sure if all the homiers are the same or not... could be or maybe not. I think there is a photo at my home site of mine. http://www.bright.net/~ispike/home2

Thanks for the responses.
I was convinced about "First Choice" but then for about 600 dollars less, I thought I'd look into Farm Pro.
There is a local dealer getting them in . He said he looked at them and they don't seem to bad.
I understand "you get what you pay for" but I've been mowing this particular piece of land now for several years with a DR Field and Brush mower.
I'm not going to use it for my lawn. Just a small field and a 30' wide grass strip along my drive.
Thanks again,
GrayBeard
