Farm Pro (Jinma) Grease fittings

Ok, I have my first complaint about my tractor. Everything else has been great, I used it all day yesterday.

I went to put some grease in the grease fittings and my manly American greasegun broke off the cheesy brass grease fittings. Well, some of them, most of them just didnt take grease. So, I whip out my box of metric stainless steel grease fittings to replace them and guess what, they are all a bigger size. I have to go to autozone and look, but will I be able to find some real grease fittings, that work, for this thing in that larger (8 or 9mm?) size?

Today I tackled the annoying chinese zerk fittings on my new 2425, thought I'd pass along the what of it for new and old alike. The following specifically applies to the Farm-Pro 2425 with the Farm-Pro loader and Backhoe combination.

Factory fittings flat stink, if the check ball is still even in it, it likely doesn't seal, and worse yet, the shape of the zerk does not seal on the grease gun and it not only makes a flat out mess, but prevents you from building any pressure to force the grease where you want it, especially on the hoe. Here is what it took:

6mm x 1mm (pitch) taper thread:
25 straight
4 flat ( install with screwdriver type)

For the 6mm, you'll need 8 of these if you have a loader, specifically the Homier FEL and 21 (4 flat/17 straight) for the hoe. I chose to install the 4 flat style on the back of the bucket pivot, just in light digging I had already succesfully broken 2 of them and was sure the other 2 weren't far behind.

10mm x 1mm (pitch) taper thread:
13 straight

You'll find all 13, 10mm will be for the tractor, likely near all the various names Jinma go under will take that amount.

This was a great, cheap upgrade for the maintenance minded person. Now I can just pop my grease gun on the nice quality grease nipple and pump away without it popping off or squirting grease all around the nipple. Cost $22.00 at TSC.

I bought a set of the Harbor Freight metric zerks and have replaces several of the factory brass ones, (yesterday I grabbed the OLD grease gun and it still had a BRASS one in it that had broken off of someplacfe!?) anyhow it was only 4.99 sale priced so I grrabed it at the local store.

Oh, they have them at harbor freight tools? I live 30 minutes from one. I'll have to go get some. Thanks, I dont have a backhoe, yeh, I'm glad it wasnt just me.

To follow up, I couldnt find 10mm fittings at Autozone or another local parts store, so I bought some 1/8" NPT fittings to try and they worked fine. Amazingly, I can grease all the points with ease now and it only cost me $5. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I have in the past bought 10mm fittings at NAPA. Had to buy an assortment pack, but they had them.

I did the same thing too on Sunday. I went to O'Reilly's and bought a pack of 1/8 NPT fittings. Worked great!

Thats where I got mine. Where are you, I'm in southern MS. I just moved here but I've never been to an O'Reilly's before. We had Advance auto and autozone in eastern NC.
