Would someone with a Jinma 254 or Farm 2524 please measure the length of their transmission dipstick? Please measure from the bottom of the threads on the dipstick. Also, how far down is the full mark scribed in it? I know this will be a pain, but I would greatly appreciate it. I have crossed 100 hrs and am still going strong...no significant problems...just a few O-rings needed replaced. - Gene

VAJinma:

did you're wear off on a gear? I remember reading about a bunch of them that did this, it was rubbing on some sort of gear or shaft. this wore through the dip stick and lef tpart of it fall down in to the bottom, most that had it happen said the fall off part went right to bottom and didnt get caught in anything. I would check at JohnsS's site I think he had this info at one time posted... If not I can take a look at mine and let you know. I'm not at the farm now Im in the city.

I spent all weekend mowing and tearing appart my lean too which blew over in the high winds last week. luckly it went the only way it could to avoid damaging my back hoe! It kind of collapsed like a house of dominoes. broke off most of the posts at ground level. (rot due to being untreated lumber) The old guy I bought the place from talked as though he was a master builder but I think he maent masterbater as everything he built is so shabby I can't belive someone would do something that bad on their own property!

anyhow I'll be out there tuesday or wensday.

No, it did not get ground off. I had to replace the big O-ring for the 3 pt lift piston/cyl under the seat. I had to remove the trans/gear shifter cover. I did not drain enough hydraulic fluid. When I pulled out the cylinder and piston, some of the hyd. fluid went into the trans. When I was finished I had to drain alot of fluid out of the trans. to bring it to the proper level on the dipstick. I am wondering if the trans. dipstick is marked at the proper level. They both have univ tractor fluid in them. When I changed fluids a while back I may have just measured in the th 3.7 gals in the trans. I can't recall whether I trusted the dipstick or not. I just wanted a comparison with another tractor. I don't have time to drain out and meter back in the 3.7 gals now, but I also don't want to damage anything.

Sorry to hear about lean too. I have lost quite a few trees the past month also due to the wet ground and high winds. It is too hot now to deal with cleaning up messes like that. I prefer the late fall to early spring for that kind of work, but you have to do what you have to do.

Hi,
Overall length is 8" from O ring to end of rod, 7" from o ring to full mark. I wouldn't worry much about it being a little over full.

Thanks for checking. Mine measures 7 1/4 in. from the full mark to the top of the threads where an o-ring would go. I am more concerned with under servicing than over servicing. May be we get another person to check and find the happy median. Although, a 1/4 in. probably isn't much fluid.
