I just purchased a farm pro 25 horse power 4 wd farm pro with a front end loader. I got a terrific buy, 7500.00 assembled. When I got it home the second day it was hard to start and the 3 point would not move. After calling service, the technician immediately knew the problem. I was told that in all likelihood it was the quick connects to the fel. I didnt understand but I replaced both of them...(25.00) from local john deere dealer...After ruuning the fel up and down two times the the 3 pt started working... (very thick fluid, will be changeing shortly). I sold a yanmar 1601 d and relplaced it with this tractor. I hooked up a 6 foot landscaping rake and lowerd the fel to scrape the ground first and the rake to manicure the rock in my driveway... Wow it did a great job. More power than I needed and ran very smoothly....

The technician said that the quick connects supplied are sometimes defective and this is a common problem...

This board is wonderful. so much information especially for us city folk with tractors.

Glad to hear the fix was a simple one ... enjoy the new tractor. You may want to change the fluids if your dealer has not already done so ... you'll find plenty of posts on this in the forum .... Good luck .... Scozz

Bigtrooper, I recently purchased a Farm Pro 8040 (80 hp), and I am having the same problem (3 pt will not lift) and I am having the mechanics come out to take a look at it, so if I am reading correctly, the quick connects for your fel were bad? I would just like to have an option to tell the mechanic when he gets here!

My problem was that the 3 pt would not go down. It was stuck in the up position. The valve under the seat also was closed all the way making the problem worse.
seems to be working fine, used it today..

it is wise to read up on JOHN S'S web site he has links under his posts, those quick connects to the FEL are very dangerous if they come appart they will blow up the hyd pump. never disconnect them and try to run the tractor engine. that dead heads the pump and clows its seals...

lots of good info on his site for beginers to china tractors.

Closing the valve in front of and below the seat will lock the 3 point. this is used for "road transprot" when you want to make sure you don't accidently plow the road at 20mph.

Its main purpose is to slow down the lowering of the 3 pt. and can be adjusted depending on weight of the attachment.

10 hours on it now and I love it. It handles the work around my place so much easier than my Yanmar 1601 did.. Definately have to tighten bolts as I go though. Thanks for all the information.

Glad to see your enjoying your new tractor. Someday, when I get my current project finished I'll post some photos of what I've been working on, a wide pathway down a pretty steep bank. I'm basically cutting it into the side of the bank, lots of dirt and slow going, but it will open up another 8 acres in the back woods.

bluechip mentioned the flow control under the seat... on mine it is an absolute bear to open it with a load on the 3 point in the raised position. You may have already discovered that or it may be that mine needs to have the locking screw loosened up a bit more.
