Farmall 350
I am a 16 year old and live on a farm. My parents are divorced and my dad farms about 1000 acres. I want to get into farming more and have raised bottle calves the last two years. My mom has a five acre pasture and my dad has some land by the interstate I can bale. I have a farmall 350 at my moms that I would like to use to square bale. A neighbor did not bale all of his pasture this year and I am going to ask if I can bale that and fence in the wet areas to let my 4 calves graze on.

I have a few people that I can barrow a baler from. But the neighbor that I will ask to bale his pasture has a JD 336 sitting in his trees. My neighbor John also has a John Deere baler unsure on size but may be this or a little larger. My question is can my tractor handle the JD 336 or would I want a smaller baler?

Thanks FarmBoy

I am pretty sure that this tractor has live pto. To activate it it is the lever to the right of the seat correct? What kind of a mower should I be looking for on the cheap side?

Look for a New Holland nine foot and you should do well. Units newer then the 489 all have lateral float instead of just up and down.

Sounds like you are on the right track. Just remember to take your time and be very careful, the process of baling hay can be dangerous and there are plenty of opportunities to get hurt. It's good to see someone your age with your initiative. Ask plenty of questions here and your neighbors that have baled, can't have too much good advice. Good luck!

I am thinking about stacking my bales on pallets and then moving them with pallet forks on the tractor. I would pull my little utility trailer with pallets on it and then stack 3 bales on edge and then tie them together together with another layer of bales. I would stack 12 bales a pallet and then store them in my pole barn.
