Last fall into winter I was restoring the late FIL's 1976 265 MF with only 1226 hours and pulled the fuel tank to check the valves and dry up an oil leak under the tank.
Accidently I dropped a small piece of blue shop paper towel into the tank so I put in about a gallon gas and we shook it up well and dumped it into a 5 gallon buck. It came out on the first try but the gas was totally red.
Years earlier he add used off road fuel we figured out. The fuel filter container looked like black plastic was turned out to be glass. I was glad we got the dye out not that it was hurting anything. it had been 20 years since any dyed diesel had been used in the tractor and he was 93 when he pasted late last summer but he had bush hogged with it earlier in the summer. We always felt with our gas 801 Fords the dye least to sticking floats.
If I ever have another tank off I will do the same.
