I just totally rewired my 63 Farmall Cub and , Like My Farmall Super A, which I rewired last year, it bothered me that the ONLY electrical Wires that are Protected by a Fuse is the Lights. All other Connections, which run to the Main HOT WIRE on the Starter Motor, Battery Terminal, are NOT protected at all. In doing the rewiring of the Cub, I removed several frayed, burned out wired that obviously had gotten shorted out. So Now I am thinking that Perhaps Putting a In Line Fuse or Fusable Link of some sort in the Main HOT wire which feeds Everything might be a Good Idea? Not Sure Why this wasn't there already?? Anyway, I'm thinking about putting a simple 20 amp Fuse in the Line right before it connects to the Power source at the starter, if it blows quickly, I'll try a 30 amp... Good Idea or Bad Idea???

Any thought or input on this would be greatly appreciated.

I had a tractor that blew the fusible link a few times and I replaced it with a 20 amp inline fuse and never had another problem.

I rewired a Nuffield 465 and tried the inline fuse style of protection.
It turned out to always be a problem with overheating of the contacts between the fuse and weatherproof fuse holder.
Over time it would just start to melt and cut off the power at the worst possible time. They are not designed to handle a high current for long periods of time.
The fusible link is cheap and reliable. The best protection for your tractor.

You're obviously aware of the fact there is a concern there being no fuses other than the lights. I think you are wise to be concerned and also think what you propose is a very good idea. It can only be a good thing. Make sure the wire you use is heavy enough so that should you go to 30 amp from 20 it will carry the current safely.
You might place an ammeter in circuit and switch everything on to get to know the maximum current carried by the wire in question. Then fuse up to around 1 1/2 to twice for the proposed fuse.:dance1:
