His pomises to be an interesting thread. Did this problem come on all of a sudden or has it been getting weaker and weaker over time?

Was pump driveshaft hooked up? Can't tell much by the pics.

I had an M years ago. It came without a pump and I found one for $40.00. It was the best working part of the tractor so I never went into it. Hopefully someone will know whether your problem is in the pump or the control.

Is there a special tool to get to the belly pump? Like a rod with a dowl pin sticking out the side?

While a transmission jack might work better, I bodged up the special tool you describe by welding a pin to some pipe to fit into the slot. The other end was probably straight pipe with a handle welded on at 90 degrees or, it might have come off as a T at the end. I'm not sure whether the other side had any kind of a T or a pin, I might have just used a sraight pipe. The hardest parts were finding a helper to lift the other side and keepng the cross piece that connected the two shafts in place until the bolts were in. I hope someone with more experience will come on and advise on a good way to do the later.

He was probably just curious like I am and couldn't resist taking it apart and tinkering around inside. :laughing:
I remember when I was 6, I tore my dads riding mower engine apart. He had just purchased the mower brand new 2 months before I tore it apart.
He was gone with a friend getting some junk cars and while he was gone I went into the garage and got out the tools and unbolted and removed the engine and completely tore the engine down and had everything laid out.
Needless to say my dad was furious when he got home to find his new riding mower with it's engine removed and disassembled.
Mom was taking a nap and my brother was supposed to be out there with me. But he took off to a friends house and left me by myself in the garage with nothing else to do so I decided to grab the tools and start tinkering with the mower. lol
My dad's punishment for me besides a butt whooping and yelling at me was to make me sit there and put it back together.
He didn't know it "or maybe he did" but putting the engine back together wasn't punishment at all to me. It was fun.
He said you're not to go play until you get this engine put back together and I'm gonna stay right here with you.
To me putting that engine back together was play.
He eventually dove in and helped me put it back together as he said I was taking too long and he needed his mower soon.
I'm 25 now and I have never forgot that day.
