I am in the very first stages of purchasing my first tractor. As a kid we had a John Deere 3010, Massey Fergusson 135, and old IH 300 Farmall. So I don't have any brand bias. However, I have read some great things about Case IH agriculture tractors and was wondering if anyone has any experience/input regarding the new Case IH Farmalls. I remember reading that when Case IH and New Holland merged (CNH) that CNH would eventually differentiate between the "red and blue" tractors - which up until this point I don't know that they have. I have read that this may change with the new Farmalls. Any input/ideas?

Ive seen the new farmalls and they look as nice as any other tractor. It depends on what you want to do with it, what type of tranny, hydrostatic, gear, etc. what size tractor?

I SPENT 6 MONTHS RESEARCHING ALL TRACTOR BRANDS AND CASE FARMALL IS BY FAR THE BEST TRACTOR IF YOU WANT A 90 HP OR LESS. I PURCHASED A FARMALL 70 MFWD WITH FEL AND IT IS GREAT. IM A MASSEY FERGUSON GUY BUT I WILL NOT BUY ANYTHING ELSE BUT CASE FROM NOW ON.

I am looking for approximately 50hp PTO, FEL, back blade, brush hog, finish mower, tiller, and possibly some implement for snow removal. There is the potential for some small bale hay baler in the future (approximately 10 to 20 acres).

I have an '04 Case IH DX45. When I bought this tractor, I narrowed my selection down to the Case and New Holland tractors. I chose the Case because of the dealer. I have been very happy with the tractor. I have done a lot of loader and box blade work with the tractor. I also brush hog and use a back blade for snow removal.

The closest Case IH dealer around me seems very good - both by me talking to them and by reputation (they also carry MF). The local Kubota and New Holland dealer seem more interested in the "bigger" tractor market and contracts with the state. I have dealt with the local John Deere guy with my garden tractor (445) - seems pretty good but depends on the day/person. There is another much larger John Deere dealer about 1 hour away that seems really good. So I think I am down to either a Farmall (probably 70) or a John Deere. Has anybody heard anything about the new Farmall A series?

I'm curious about one thing. Did you find an appreciable difference between the Case/IH and New Holland tractors in this class? I'm starting to lean very heavily on either the Case DX45 cab with FEL or the NH Boomer 3045 cab with FEL. It looks like right now the NH dealer can get me a much better deal and I would rate the dealers about equal in service and quality. Heck both the Case/IH and NH dealers said that they're the same tractor when they come to the US and some just get sent for red paint others for blue paint. Having tried them both out it seems like they are the same tractor, but have you uncovered a significant difference? I prefer red to blue I suppose but they're my favorite and second favorite colors respectively so it's not a huge deal. I am feeling that in and around the 45 HP area that these tractors are the best overall combination of comfort, performance and value. Go up a little in HP or down a little and the field seems more competitive but 45 HP seems to really be the sweet spot for these tractors. Anyhow, thanks in advance for your help.

I just bought a DX45 with a FEL and hydro this spring. I have about 90hour on it now and I love it. I have a 6 tiller for it been tilling up ground with rocks and roots with no power problems at all. I have not come across a situation we I did not have enough power yet. Go red you wont be disappointed. :D

Lt Cheg and Sparker

Lt CHEG - I heard the CaseIH and NH tractors were essentially the same except for color but that this was going to change with the new "Farmalls". I have not heard anybody comment on this specifically.

Sparker - What kind of soil do you till? Has it been worked before or are youstarting fro sod?

Thank you for all of the input.

Stan I don't know about Case and New Holland making them different. When I looked at the New Holland it was the same a my case just the grill and headlights were different. I even checked the web sites they still looks the same.

The soil I was tilling was fresh ground that had maple trees growing on it. I had removed the trees with my cat 420e. Then leveled it off then tilled up the ground. There were large roots and rocks ranging in size form 1in to about 36in in diamiter. Many of the rock even broke in half when the tiller hit them, but with no problems or any damage to the tiller. It work great with the tractor with no power problems.

I also tilled up part of my yard with heavy sod. I had to go over it twice to break up all the chunks. Still the tractor had more than a enough power to do what ever I wanted.
