I have a older farmi winch. I while back I forgot that I didn't have the tractor end of the PTO shaft attached . I drove the tractor and broke off the yoke on the tractor end. I replaced an under sized PTO shaft I had laying around. . This was not an easy task as I have found the PTO shaft on this unit is a 6 spline but will only accept a pto shaft on a certain way . Only 1 way will it slide on properly to allow the pin to lock. Second use it just twisted the pto shaft right off. Thinking I better get a better PTO shaft.
After looking for parts for the original PTO it was about 1/2 $ of new to get it going again.
Ended up buying a new pto shaft series 4. Before I cut to length I thought I would see if it will slide on.
No way I tried 6 x twice and will not go on far enough to engage the locking pin.
All the spline on the yoke look the same . Not sure if the splines on the winch are tapered.
What am I missing . What is unique to the farmi winch??
My next plan is to remove the locking pin and try again but I don't think its the problem.
