Farmpro 2425 ARGHHHHH!

Once again I come before you hat in hand with an abundance of ignorance and little else. I have a Farmpro 2425 tractor which has been great. Recently I have been having problems with it. I had an overheating problem so I replaced the theromostat, this seemed to fix the issue. Then I has an intermittent starting problem so I replaced the starter. Now this morning I went to start it and Nothing zip nada. No rrr,rrrr,rrrr, no nothing. I put my fatmax on the battery it tests good, the battery cables are new and attempted to jump start it. NOTHING. I checked fuses, looked for loose wires I must confess I am at a loss. HELP PLEASE

Test your starting sisteme one item at a time. Test if the ign switch is ok ...getting power and giving power. Then your neutral switch....getting power and giving power. Go thru all your safetyswitches. Then hotstart at the starter. Remember all gearlevers must be in NEUTRAL ! ! !

Yes to the above. It could also be the clutch safety switch, bad or need slight adjustment. Starting direct from this starter will bypass both and then you will know.

My starter was lubricated from the factory with Yak Fat. This stuff has real inconsistent viscosity and can jam things up.

For starters I usually jump to the starter and eliminate it first. If I have 12V measured at the starter, I tripple check it is NOT in gear, and or fully depress the clurch pedal and secure it there with a tie down strap. I also pull out the shutdown cable control and hold it there with a zip-tie.

Then I use an alligator clip and apply +12V to the starter tab on the solenoid. If it does not crank/click I try it one more time while measuring the voltage at the starter. If the voltage does not drop, then you have a starter problem. Once had a weak connection that delivered battery voltage to the starter untill the slightest load was applied at which time the voltage disappeared and the circuit was unable to provide enough current to even pull in the solenoid to even make it click.

If the voltage drops or the starter works when jumpered, then your problem lies elsewhere in either the main feed wiring to battery and ground(voltage drop) or in the starter and clutch safety circuit...

I'll second the safety switch issue. Look for PTO, seat, gear safety switches. I know their purpose but they can be a pain. On the bright side, once you find them, you can unplug them to disable your tractor if you are not going to be home for awhile. Not many people would know to look in all the right places for those switches if they wanted to steal your tractor.
