What I learned along the way is the object of this thread. I do not own a FarmPro tractor but recently had a transaction with a dealer and the home office in Indiana. In the end all worked out and I have nothing negative to say about these folks. The pricing policy between supplier and dealer appears to be arbitrary. For example on a tractor part the dealer charged 58% more for a part then the website http://www.farmprotractors.com/support.asp quoted me for the same part. The lesson learned is it might be prudent for a buyer to shop around, call or e-mail the home office and compare prices and services rendered. We all know the show sales can sell below a dealer because the dealers obviously invest more time and resource in their product, not to mention after sale service. Quite frankly it is surprising to learn that their is no pricing standard and rather loose dealer affiliations. You will find these machines being sold out of all kinds of businesses. It is still a Jinma and we all know how many names they have around the world!

Hey Wayne,

Good Post, and for those of us that are on a tight budget,, it is very wise to shop around. The Tractor Dealers tend to markup their parts quiet a bit or don't even stock them at all and refer to crossover #'s to go to the local parts store.

So far, I have had excellent results with JinmaParts.com. Prompt, knowlegeable, Price Thrifty, Technical Consultant, Right on the Mark for OEM parts.

Have a nice day,
Joe

If you have Excel or (the free) Excel Reader, I've uploaded an attachment that lists the actual cost of 862 parts that go on a JM254. Even though the list is a couple a years old, it will give you a ballpark idea of what kind of markups are being applied.

It is too big in it's original Excel format, so I had to make a ZIP file out of it. First "unzip" it, then open it with Excel or Excel Reader.

Greg, That price list is very interesting. Those would be the prices a dealer would pay two years ago? If so I hope somebody stocked up!

Greg, you forgot to add airfare/shipping from China, customs bond, customs broker,Insurance, trucking or rail from LA or Long Beach. and some dealer mark up.I also think that list is a little more than a few years old.I understand the point you are trying to make now I hope you understand the dealers.
Are we making any money,of course we are.You are making it look like we are making all this money when we are not.The outdated price list is for parts picked up in China, and does not include the cost to get it here. I just recieved a 5lb air freight box from Jinma today and just my DHL charges were $ 231.00
not including the cost of the parts

I was careful to qualify the age of that list Tommy, but in doing so it looks like I touched a nerve. It's a safe bet that you get the majority of your spare parts shipped in the tractor containers, just like all the other dealers. A $231 DHL bill is surely the exception, not the rule. As such, it's probably safe to say your list of customers who get their parts overnighted from China is pretty short.

We do get some parts with our tractors, some we have to order in,when you post a note that refelects dealer cost you have to include everything that goes with that.If we ordered parts just when a customer needed them we collected the money and told them in about 60-90 days we will call you when your parts come in we could sell for less.Thats not the case here,we have overhead just like any other buisness does.Hit a nerve, yes you did.

P.S.If you want to buy out our parts buisness I will sell it to you,we are making tons of money

I think most of us realize that making a living is what drives the engine. I fully expect a dealer/seller to make a reasonable profit and also expect not to get ripped off. Those who stay in business long enough figure that out. Those who rip me off never see me again or get anything but negative referrals. It just really surprised me that a rather large company has such a loose business practice when they are targeting products nationwide? That defies buisness 101!
