From what I see in the 390HST service manual I have, the circuit is pretty simple. The DTC may be a different story having the clutch. The PTO switch always gets me. You might also check the fuses. I think there is one for the engine stop circuit but it looks like one of them might be used for the starter relay or something. The wiring diagram is hard to read on my service manual. You might also check the starter relay. I agree with others it is probably something simple. Check your lights and see if they work that might be a quick test of your battery connection. If they were tight enough to get lights but loose enough to not start I would suspect you would at least hear the starter try to turn over or hear the glow plug relay click.
I had some wires under my dash rub through and it shorted my lights out. That one wiring bundle isn't protected well from the frame under the steering column. It's possible something wore through and broke a wire under there. Probably nothing like that, but if you run out of options there is one place to check.
