Rookie at this farm thing and a weekend warrior at best. Have an opportunity to purchase a 2007, Farmtrac 675 DTC w/ bucket, NEW-lot model, for $20,000. Sounds like a good price but don't know enough of the brand or pricing to know if this is a good deal. Told by the dealer that his cost was $26,000. Would have light farming, mowing, forest application a few times a year. Any advice for a rookie looking for a deal? Thank you all!

I do not belive Farmtrac is a Chinese tractor. Search for threads with Farmtrac in them.

Yeah, pretty sure Farmtrac is a Long Agribusiness line. Long is Korean, but I think the tractors might actually be made in India

Long agribusiness went belly up, some tractors were made in India, some in Brasov Romania. The parts on the shelves are what's out there for now. I read some of the Farmtrac dealers were making contact with the factory in India for spare parts. The plant in Romania closed it's doors. Parts are there for now. The tractors out of Romania have been around a long time and a lot of aftermarket parts are available for some models. I own a 1974 445 long tractor. Seems to be a good ole machine.

I would buy one if the deal was good.

Thats been my understanding also. They do seem to be good tractors.

Did the dealer even mention that Farmtrac is now out of business? Anything about the warranty situation, or parts? If not, I'd run away.

Mentioned it was bought by Montana tractors and warranted through them. Thanks!

I am not saying that what the dealer told you is not true, but if is nobody down here in the SE that has FT brand tractors that I know is getting any warranty honored by montana, but the part about them buying FT'S Tarboro N.C. facilities and remaining parts I think is true. The FT dealers were the people who really took a beating when the people who owned the company and ran. Iwould do a lot of checking around and get all the facts before I jumped on that deal.

What I meant to say at the end of that last post was that when the owners of the company took the money and ran it hurt the dealers pretty bad. My typing and computer skills leave a little to be desired, sorry.

the 675 is a good tractor. Engine is Perkins trans and front axle are carrero. very few Escorts parts on it! Montana bought the assets of Farmtrac NA, who imported escorts tractors from india and LS (formerly LG) tractors from Korea. the Farmtrac brand name is registered to Escorts in India. If your dealer still has this tractor floored by Textron, Textron will purchase a 3rd part warranty from EPG to cover this tractor (must pay for it by end of month). After that, if still floored by Textron, the warranty will be administerd by MOntana tractor (this is my understanding, I am still just barely a farmtrac dealer with one lone 665 with loader). Oh this is an Indian built tractor, a bargain at 20K! I would go for it, understanding that parts and service are available, jsut a little more cumbersome than the 30,000 tractor it compares too. Hope this helps.
