FDA Pet Food Recall. Several animal deaths.

Every time one of these announcements comes out I start thinking about making my own dog food.

The Wifey has been feeding our dogs her own concoction for years. Mostly raw meat, whatever happens to be on sale, canned pumpkin, supplements and sometimes cooked greens of some kind and/or a raw egg.

Even expensive dog food is scat. We would feed our dogs the best dog food we could buy from a specialty pet dog food store. Even that would cause problems for our dogs and we would have to switch type and/or brands. Every dog we have had, has had issues with commercial dog food. K9s don't eat corn, wheat, rice and other fillers much less the other scat they put in the "food."

What has NOT caused any problems with the dogs is the wifey's raw meet diet she feeds to the K9. The current dog is a pound rescue who as very under weight and full of worms. It took two treatments to get rid of the worms. :shocked: Poor dog. His reaction to the wifey's diet was like flipping on a light switch. He gained the weight he needed, his fur filled out, the fur looked really good very quickly and he had a far more energy. Ok, the last part might not be so good. :laughing: Amazing how quick that dog recovered when fed a quality diet.

Now, if we could just stop his diet supplementation with the deer poo....:shocked:

If you figure out how to do that, you'll be famous! Either eat it or roll in it, there's something about another animals offings that dogs love. Mine will go out and lick it off the pig's behinds, until I catch him doing it.

Maybe that's where he gets the probiotics he needs.
