Fear the B2600?

My brother called me since now I'm a bonified Kubota expert after owning one for 8 days. He is negotiating on a B2600 that has not been run in 3 years. Needless to say it does not run now. It has new fron tires (turfs) a 60" deck, and a 3pt blade. It also (supposedly) has a new engine with 14.8 hours on it. They say it looks clean! The seller has promised to take it to the dealer and pay to get it running.
$3500 sound OK??
Anything specific to look for??
Anything that is probably trash after sitting so long without being run??

I dunno,.. Thats what he said. My guess is at the very least it was run out of gas or the battery if dead. 5.9 apr financing would send me to a new tractor every time but thats just not my brother. Always looking for the deal!

It's only money. I expect I could wind up in about the same situation, so I'm going to be watching this closely. The questions are: IF the tractor were running (plowing, mowing, etc) what would it be worth? Is there enough difference in price to cover repairs? Is the dealer going to give it a go over when he gets it running? Will it be your favorite dealer or the sellers? AND, IF the seller sends it to the dealer and gets it running, will you HAVE to buy it? Oh yeah, can he afford to take the hit if this goes sour? (You can fix it, you're an expert/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif).

This sounds like a grab bag deal. It may need no more than fuel and a battery charge, maybe a little oil down the cylinders to loosen everything up. Still, new motor. Lotta life in a new motor. Could get it started and have no problems for years. I've bought trucks that way. A little carb work and a few good cranks and off you go. On the other hand, I've gotten rooked a couple of times too. (Oh, the brakes are fine, they just need adjusting! Yeah, right. /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif).

Would I be afraid of that deal? Probably not. When I bought my old L175, it had been sitting long enough to have bushes 10 foot high growing between the loader frame and the tractor itself. Charged the battery, ADDED fresh deisel, checked the oil and hydraulic fluid levels, and anti-freeze, added air to one tire, replaced one hydraulic hose and fired it up. Ran like a charm.
I would start with simply checking the engine over to make sure its free, then charge the battery, drain the deisel and add fresh....essentially what I listed before....and give it a whirl!

Why hasn't the Seller already taken the tractor to the shop? I would think if they wanted to sell for the best buck,it would be in "running condition". Sounds like a crap shoot to me.Also,I'm not aware of a B2600,are you sure it's not a B6200?

It is a b2600. The only thread I was able to find mentioned a b2600 and suggested grey market. Maybe I should put a thread up just to confirm that? Hmm think I will.

Check with your dealer to see about parts. Even if the tractor is grey market, 'Bota may stand behind it.

Kubota will not stand behind a grey-market tractor. At the Kubota dealers I have worked for we would not even work on them. If we found out the tractor you were buying parts for was a grey market tractor, we had a no return policy.

Have found an ad for a 1999 'Bota B2400 w/hydraulic blade and 60" deck. Ad says "Low Hours" $12,000 (dealer-Case). Is this anything close to the 2600?
