Hi all,

I'm dealing with a Fecon/Deutz engine failure. If anyone on here is dealing with, or has experienced, a similar failure (or a Rayco/Deutz failure), please contact me.

Thanks,

Jesse Bennett

Post in the "construction" forum farther down. There have been posts about them. No direct exp, but I looked at buying a fecon with deutz and found that the engines seem to last 800-1200 hours then you buy a new one.

Yanmar makes a replacement engine as many are seen for sale with a yanmar as the 2nd or 3rd engine.

Deutz make good engines, there must be something in the install that is affecting their life?

The version in there is oil cooled and the application is one where the engine runs hot and the radiators get clogged up with chips and dust. So, partly the application, but the engine seems to be very fragile and has reported failures even on systems that are run clean. But, that's all from reading and not from doing so take it for what little it's worth!

I have owned and operated Deutz air cooled enginges of various sizes 3-6 clyinders for 20+ years. I have had no engine problems at all. I would have purchased anouther one, but the local dealer shut down, due to the local death of the ag industry.

Deutz doesnt make engine like they used to make them... the good old 912 and 913 series engines...

Have worked on 2011 engines in asphalt rollers. they are just built too cheap, and will warp due to heat stress, blow gaskets and if you have bad luck, also burn away some of the upper cylinder wall so you can toss the block in the scrapbin...

I think OEMs keep buying them because it gives them installation benefits, as the cooling is integrated. No need for a radiator, fan, hoses. That cuts down the development costs of small series of machines.

I'm just not impressed with the 1500 to 1700 hr machines i've opened... Built light duty like car engines.
