Well they just sent out a new one and I decided to look at who they "share" (i.e. sell) my info to -
It's a 12 page document mostly a bunch of butt covering technicalities but buried in it is who they sell the data to. To get to it you need to go through their "feel good bs" blurb:

What we do with it

Better understand and serve our customers
Attract new customers
Provide personalized experiences and offers from us and our affiliates
Measure marketing campaign effectiveness
Perform and measure effectiveness of agreements (e.g., shipping, tracking, customer service)
Protect customers and their accounts against fraud
Comply with legal obligations
Learn more about what we do with personal data.

I can understand them sharing it within Fed Ex but also about halfway down in the 12 pages:

• With unaffiliated third parties and business partners who may offer products and services to you. These third parties and business partners have their own privacy notices that govern the collection and use of your Personal Data.

As I read this it's ANYBODY they want to.

Further down they seem to allow you to opt out but my lawyer was not available to decipher the terms for me and I think they basically say they will only sell my data if they want to.

Yep, if you think you are getting something for free, like tracking your packages with updates sent to your email or cell phone.... you would be totally wrong!

All this internet stuff like searches and visiting WEB sites comes with a price, your information is being gathered.

Good luck functioning in today's world, like using a credit card, computer, banking, cell phone or driving a new car with a modem for over the air software updates without someone selling your data to someone else.

Just remember if you cannot figure out what the product is.... YOU .... and your personal data.... are the product.

Fedex offers that service so they can gather and sell your data. Only you can determine if the service provided is worth that invasion of your privacy.
