Feedback on sub-compacts ?

Can anyone wh has a sub-compact like a TZ 18, 22, 25 DA or a T1110 , give me thier opinion on thier machine good or bad ?
I am thinking of buying one of these in the spring .Thank you in advance.

I have 3 New Hollands and a few other tractors and had never had or paid much attention to a subcompact - I didn't see much use for them.

When I became a New Holland Dealer last year, I ended up setting one up for my father to use with a loader and a tiller for his garden. He loves it.

I usually mow my grass with a demo zero-turn mower of one of 3 brands that we carry or use a 6' finishing mower behind my TC40. I ended up with a TZ24 with 80 hours traded in. I took it home to try it out with the 60" belly mower. Well, SURPRISE, SURPRISE as Gomer Pyle used to say. That thing mowed better than anything.

First, it was super quiet with that smooth little diesel. The mower deck ran quieter than any deck I've ever used. The deck also did not exhibit the "blow-up" that you get from many mower decks. I did not even miss the "zero-turn" capability of the commercial mowers with the sharp turning radius and flawless hydro trans on the TZ.

My wife, who had expressed her dislike of the zero-turns, tried out the TZ and started mowing everytime she had a chance when our baby was asleep. It rode much smoother than the zero-turns and was just fun to cruise around on.

Since most folks have grass to mow already, if there is any one other job around the yard or acreage that can be accomplished with a small implement, I would strongly recommend the TZ (Now the 1000 series).

I don't own one, but working at a dealership, I see, hear about, and work on them from time to time. If you need something in that size/hp with a mid mount mower, they are great. If you have need for a loader, 3pt hitch capability, or the need to drive around in tall grass or weeds, step up to a Class I compact. TC subcompacts have inadequate frames for loader work, goofy 3pt geometry, and a plastic hydrostatic cooling fan that can and does get ruined by tall vegetation. We have a T1110 on the lot, but I have not checked to see if any of these deficiencies have been corrected.

Hey RickB , If you get a chance to look at the one on your lot let me know if they improved them, BTW could you get me a price on the T1110 with the 60in. mid mount mower deck.

I have had my TZ18 for around 40hrs now. I have a fel, box scraper, and a 5ft Bush Hog finish mower for it. So far it has done everything I have asked of it. I have moved dirt, mulch, mowed, and some landscaping with the box scraper.

I have had bigger tractors in the past, but I have less land now. Anything bigger and I would have trouble getting in between my buildings and the fence.

As for the 3pt, the only thing I notice different than the bigger tractors is that for the lift arms you have to flip the pins of most attachments to the inside instead of them pointing outward. No big deal there.

What type of work do you plan to use it for? That will be the difference in if you need a bigger tractor or not.

I have a TZ25DA. I have owned it for 2 years and cannot find a problem. I did have the fender start to crack and the dealer fixed it (there is a TA on it)and replaced the fender ( it was small but he insisted!)

The mowing is great, the ability to do hillls sideway or up and down, it does them with out a hitch. I have a blade and we have used it to spread gravel and level dirt, no problem and cut a ditch for rain drain off.

I bought a TZ24DA in 2004 w/ 60 belly mower and front end loader. I have sence bought and used just about evry attachment that you can think of on it. Curently the machine has just over 400 hours on it and has performed great. Dont know what we would do with out it. It's so compact it works great in and around tight landscapes....

I have an '05 TZ24DA witha 60"mmm that I bought new three mowing seasons ago. I mow and scrape mostly. Lately I have been thinning about 5 acres of 12-14 year old pines. I have used the tractor to skid the cut trees out of the trees left standing. The maneuverablilty (sp?) is great. I can pile and chain 2-4 trees together and it will drag them out nicely. It would be so much better without the mower deck but I am leary of damaging the hydro fan again. Stout little tractor!

I know what you're talking about, I ripped the blades off my fan and decided I didn't want to replace another one so I came up with this solution. It only took a short while to come up with and put it together and now anytime I remove the MMM, I put this in it's place and I don't have to worry when I'm working around in the woods. Worked for a few years, won't be without it.
