Hi Guys
Trying to figure out another one. Does anyone know the real world difference between the standard duty 66" bucket and the heavy duty on the LA 482 loader? The loader has 50% less capacity than a 682 so why would it need a heavy duty bucket? Also, what is the cost difference? The last dealer I went to indicated the cost was substantial. Is there an aftermarket loader that has the capacity of the 682, yet fits the 3010?
Thanks much in advance

The HD bucket is 60" wide but substantially more rugged. HD has nothing to do with lift capacity -- just its ability to withstand punishment. I've bent the bottom edge of my standard bucket dugging up boulders, and have dented the back of the bucket carrying boulders. Also, if I had the HD bucket I probably could have put chainhooks on the top without reinforcing it.

Can't help you on the capacity question. So far I haven't found the log or rock my 481 couldn't lift.

Buckets:
I'd go for the heavy duty bucket.
As for example on my B7100 I had wore off the cutting edge. It was replaced with a much heavier 4" x 1/2 " edge welded on. The change in bucket stability is very noticeable. it also works much better at digging etc. It was a great improvement to the bucket.

The cost difference between the regular duty and 60" HD bucket for me was $150. I got it because I plan to add a toothbar and I would be digging in rocky clay. I felt the extra strength would be a benefit. I plan to leave the FEL on most of the time and felt that maneuvering between trees, with a box blade on the back, would be easier with the smaller bucket.

I do not know what I paid for mine it was part of the package I put together. I thought the HD bucket on my 3010 was essential because I move a lot of rock.
This thing is REALLY heavy duty. I saw one look and said I want that with R-4s and I'll be off to the races!
Good decision.
I recommend to everyone buy the heavy-duty bucket!

The difference between the std (L1740A) bucket and the HD (L1741A) bucket is almost 100 lbs. and about $210.00. We sell very few std. buckets because most people are going to be using the loaders for heavier work. Both buckets are 60" wide. As Boondox stated, the lift capacity is determined by the loader cylinders and is around 1060 lbs. for the LA482 loader.

Equipman -- Are you sure on the width? My std bucket is 66" wide as opposed to the HD 60" width. In the end, that dictated my choice. Of course, I have the old 481 loader...

You must have an optional L1780 bucket, which is a 66" square back. It weighs 220 lbs. and is priced between the L1740A and the L1741A buckets. There is also an optional 70" (L1750) light material bucket available for the LA481 or the LA482 Kubota loaders.
