FEL Bucket Wax

Has anyone heard of a "wax" or similar product that I could coat the inside of my bucket so that when I'm moving snow in the winter, the packed snow doesn't stick to the inside of the bucket causing me to only to get 1/2 scoops ??? I have heard that there is a product available but can't find anything locally.

Haven't heard of anything marketed like that, but I would think ski wax would fit the bill pretty well. It solves a similar problem.

I've heard of people using PAM (the cooking spray), but I had pretty good luck last year just having the bucket the same temp as the (outside, unheated) air. Not 100% successful, mind you, but pretty good.

I just use the cheapest car wax that I can find. Remember to pay special attention to the corners where the end sheet meets the main sheet. Start with a healthy coating there first. Then work on the larger areas.
I don't even wipe the wax off when I'm done coating the inside of the bucket. I figure the more wax the better...besides, who is going to stand out in the cold and criticize your swirl marks?
The combination of the wax and a cold bucket (leave the bucket sit outside while the snow is falling) gives me great success. No sticking!

I don't know if it would work on the bucket, but I used this on my 54" mower deck from my 445. My JD dealer had a product that I believe was called Slick Coat. Farmers would use it on various equipment to lubricate and protect. It goes on as a gunmetal gray primer that is very smooth to the touch. I think it actually has Teflon material in the spray/primer.

BTW, I had my new 62" belly mower coated with a smooth Rhino lining. Works great. Wears great. Much easier cleanup.

Eric , I use Johnsons paste wax . It holds up fairly well .
And for touch up( or lazziness ) I use PAM spray . John

I would use PAM - it does wonder's on my Satellite dish to keep the wet snow off in the winter. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

The original name and non-JD name for the product is Slip-Plate. Lots of farm stores and TSC sell it in spray cans and also in gallons. It has a high graphite content.

I've used any of the spray-on "Instant" car waxes for years in my buckets and the undersides of the mower decks. Right now, it's Turtle Wax sitting on the shelf. Just spray a good coat on there a few times a year, and have at it.

R-West, That's what I used last winter after my initial problem but it wasn't the answer, helped, but still had buildup. Now, the reason for the thread was, last winter my bucket was in new condition, it sure ain't now & with it being scuffed/dinged up I thought the auto car wax would be less effective than last winter. Thanks

Maybe try spraying a light coat of diesel fuel on the inside of the bucket before hitting the snow banks. If it would work, keeping some in a garden sprayer would be easy, or just a bucket and a large brush or broom would work too. If it was a problem for me, I would give this a try. Inexpensive treatment if it's successful (and I only presume that it might be, but don't know how long it would last in a storm).
I have a blade, and don't have a problem with snow sticking.
