Greetings - long time reader, first time poster.

My BX24 with 120 hours on it has developed a little 'slack' in the FEL control mechanism. The bucket will raise itself when the FEL control stick is placed in the neutral position, obviously something has loosened up so the weight of the stick itself is enough to raise the FEL.

My question is this - are the adjustment nuts/bolts I need to play with to tighten/loosen this tension just under the plastic cowling under the base of the control stick, or are there more that I'd need to play with underneath the tractor body where the control rods meet the hydraulics?

Is this something that is a routine adjustment necessary over time, or something out of the ordinary?

Can I do any damage by tinkering with these myself, or is it a good idea to have a mechanic look at it?

Any suggestions/guidance appreciated, thanks!!

Todd,

I too am a long time reading first, first time posting. I experienced the same problem you describe with my BX2230 at around 100hrs. The fix was replacing the detent cartridge for the lift movement of the valve. I expected the dealer to cover this by warranty but it was past time. Kubota apparently recognized this was a problem area and put a 'weep' hole in the bottom of the cartridge to let out any moisture that would form in addition they packed it with grease.

The reason I am interested in this is it is now 2 years later and the cartridge is fine but the curl one will not return now. I took this appart my self and discovered it totally seized. Had I understood what was done to the other cartridge I would have drilled a weep hole in this one and greased it. Now it is to far gone and will need replaced.

Hope this makes sense. Here is a link to a posting that may help explain it better.

Good luck.

Look under the plastic cowling while moving the lever (Engine Off)
You may see the linkage ends loose. I have had to tighten mine a couple times within the first 200 hours. I have found a couple loose on the loader control and one on the reverse linkage.
