I chose a Century 3040, R4s, C50 FEL with BoDozer teeth and hyd clamp, plus the C86 backhoe. Great machine. Picked up the unit in May. I now have 120 hrs on it. I have work to do. Keep an eye on front axle bolts. Mine came a bit loose, but I re torqued them and have had no problem.
I noticed a couple guys have experienced the same floppy/float in the dump circuit on the FEL. I did the 50 hr maintenance (change fluids, filters etc.) and it isn't as bad as it was and seems to have improved, but still floppy on occasion. I disconnected the couplers at the valve and hit the control. The bypass was immediate, which might suggest a restriction of some sort in one of the hyd. lines. I sure can't find one however. It might be an adjustment on the cables, but I don't think so. It might be the control valve itself, but again the 'jury's still out'. Dealer is very helpful but 300 miles from me, so I get to do it all myself.
Incidentally, I would suggest that when you change your hydraullic filter, use the Century filter. Same price, but could be just a hair difference in the depth of threads causing a potential seating problem. On the other hand, maybe the Wix filter I had was just not quite as precise. By the by, Wix makes Napa Auto Parts filters. Just drop the first digit and you have the Napa number.
I'll post some pics of the clamp and BoDozer blade in the future. They turn this unit into an extremely useful machine. Once you get used to running the machine, hydrostatic is great, but for the average guy may not be worth the money.
