That being said; when I fully extend the bucket downwards to dump a load (hmm, that sounds funny) I get a loud BANG at full extension. I have VERY LITTLE experience with FELs so I am guessing that my RPMs are too high? Or, I am being too aggresive with the dump controls? I have tried to move the FEL control lever a little slower and that helps alleviate the big bang at full extension but I am thinking that maybe my RPMs are too high as well (my Tiny Tach hasn't arrived yet) or is there something else I am missing? I don't believe that the loads are too heavy (if that would even be a cause) because I am just clearing dry, fairly light snow. I am certain there is nothing wrong with the FEL either as it is brand new and functions great. My guess is just plain operator error. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

AKFord…
That is the curl at full dump hitting a stop tab on the loader boom. A lot of spools have a ‘regen’ circuit to help prevent this on larger buckets. I don’t know if yours has or not. BUT With a little practice you will get better at feathering the dump control /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif. KennyV.

AKFord,

By your description, I agree with KennyV. BTW, for snow, you shouldn't need a lot of RPM's to run the FEL. I run mine at around 1500 rpm. (A little under 1/2 throttle) which is normally plenty for most FEL loads.

Another thing that can make it go bang. When hauling stone or something with stone in it, stone can get wedged between the hyd. cyl's and the bucket. A good pinch on the rocks will generate a good BANG as well. On mine, the bang occurs when curling the bucket upwards (scooping).

I just got my new B7510 and it has a tach. The tach and the fact that I am not supposed to run it at full throttle for the first 50 hours makes me see that I was probably running my old B7100 at higher RPM's than necessary.

Using the FEL yesterday I was able to lift some pretty heavy loads at 1,500 RPM, half throttle being 1,300 RPM.

Both of my Kubotas will "bang" when they hit the stop. Try using the FEL at what sounds like half throttle until you get a tach and see if that helps. Being a little less aggressive on the control when you get near the max travel on the loader bucket will also soften the bang.

A thought just occurred to me: Wonder if you could glue a piece of inner tube on the stops to soften the stopping motion more gently? That would probably stop the noise and might be easier on the loader in the long run.

Mine does that too. It won't hurt the bucket, loader, hydraulics or tractor. At least not according to the dealer who says they all do it. Operators of the big machines do it all the time to knock sticking dirt out.

My BX23 does the same thing. The reason is as follows: The curl hydraulic ram moves at a constant speed, regardless of bucket angle. As the bucket has angled all the way down, the linear distance between the curl ram pin and the bucket pivot pins is very small. This distance I am talking about is the perpendicular distance between the curl cylinder's travel direction and the pivot pins. The smaller that distance, the greater the angular velocity of the bucket at any given cylinder speed. Since the cylinder speed is constant, the more the bucket curls forward, the faster it rotates. Make sense or no? Basically, as the bucket curls all the way forward, it's rotating about as fast as it possible can, and when it hits the stops, that's the banging sound. I've found that the bang helps unstick wet dirt from the bucket.

My 7275 does it also. It helps to get sticky dirt out real easily.
