Rich, the early TN's ran the loader lines from the rear remotes. The rubber hose ran over the rear axle and under the platform until it reached the loader mount, then it ran along the side of the loader above the hinge point. It wasn't until a few years ago that NH changed to mid mount couplers on the TN for the loaders. There is a lot of hose hanging under the early TN's and is something we have to pay close attention to as if you work around brush you always worry about a stump grabbing them.

My TN70A is just like you described, rubber hose under the platform after passing over the axle.

Chase pipes.. chaser pipes.. wire conduit. Any pipe that you run other pipes or hoses thru.

In applications where you run wire under cement.. yout run chase pipes to allow for the running or wires.. etc.

A piece of pipe clamped to the bottom of the tractor would act as a good shield for soft hoses to run thru.. etc..

Kinda like 'double' insulated wire..

Thanks for the enlightenment on the hose routing. Hoses under the tractor are one of the things that made me avoid certain machines when searching for mine. An awful lot of the machines out there apparently were not designed with working in the woods in mind.

Hoses aren't the only thing.. seems wires like to find there way down there.

Though I pretty much bleed 'blue'.. I've seen some prett dismal posts concerning NH tractors with all sorts of wire problems due to putting critical wires and connectors, unshielded, under the tractor.

If the bean counters ( who probably made the engineers do it that way ) had to come out and personally fix every wire or connector popped off the NH tractors.. I'll bet real quick they may re-route those suckers.. or run them under some protection..

DaTecha,

I believe the hose routing on TN's changed around 2003 when the mid mount valves were installed for the FEL, instead of utilizing the rear remotes to provide power.

The hoses for the FEL are also hard plumbed on the inside of the 32LA loader arms and so far have been protected from the brush. I do have extra flex lines installed from my rear remotes up to the front of the FEL to operate my grapple, but have been lucky so far.

I know I am vulnerable though, as working in brush can have very unpredictable results at the worst possible time even with the best of protection.

Soundguy -- It is never wise to go where you have not been without protection.

1bush -- Maybe they were thinking in terms of making it easy to service the things. :)
