Is there a mod, or a blade that you could switch out the loader for? I have about 1/4mi drive that was a bugger to keep clean with my little Furgeson last winter. It's doubly hard when you are either pushing or pulling a typical rear blade.. My neck cannot handle it.

I'm looking at a 5500 and thought it would be wonderful to have that mass pushing snow. Any thoughts?

Lots of forums here that have the information you want..from snow plows mounted to the bucket ,quick attach plates(remove bucket),sub-frame mounted front blades.I had a sub-frame mounted snow plow on one tractor:worked well but you lose the Front End Loader(at least the tractor I had),I currently have a Curtis snow plow attached to my FEL (QA plate) works very well for me.I can change from bucket to plow in minutes.

Thanks NYB .. there seems to be a lot of options. I'll run a search thru some of the other sections to see if there's a consensus. Thanks.

I mounted a snow plow on the front of my TO-30 Ferguson. Had it rigged with a cable lift off the 3 ph arms. Would plow snow real well.

Since I have put a 7 ft Western on my Deere 4300, using a quick hitch that I designed and had fab'd to be able to switch off quickly with the FEL (5-10 minute job) if necessary. Also built a wing plow to wing the snow further back over the ditch edge or just out of the way.

Some searching will give you a lot of ideas to consider. A consensus is unlikely because we as people are all different, have different needs, and enjoy different toys and methods. :D But one conclusion I've come to, most don't enjoy turning around and working a rear blade. :)

Is there a blade available that will mount to the FEL or just the bucket? I have a 2015 HST that would be a nice attachment on......

well it would be nice to mount to the loader as that would make it easier to attach etc. by the way does the 2015 have heater hookup for the engine?

wetstuff; if you get a 5500 make sure you get a q/a setup.then snow removal options are eazer,a blade,a 4n1, a bucket all can be changed quickly.this is from experance :D

Why not just do what I did buy a rear 3 point blade for around $400. Sure I have to plow backwards, but it hasn't been a hindrance yet. In fact since I have both the plow blade AND the loader as well, I can plow into piles and move the piles if I need to. It works for me.

I changed the bucket pins on mine to 1" pull pins. That way I can take my bucket off and attach an old 7' plow blade to my loader arms. I don't have angle power angle so can only straight blade but it works for me. Later in the season when I need to move snow I put the bucket back on.

Just an FYI, Syracuse, NY averages about 100- 114" of snow per season according to several websites. I live 20 mi. north of Syracuse in the snow belt east - southeast of Lake Ontario. We average between 135-150" per season which is why most people I know have 4x4's and / or tractors. 15 - 20 miles north of me (or due east of Ontario in the heart of the snow belt) you can add 20-30" more snow per year.
