<font color="black"> From experience I would like to mention that the trip (crossover valve) only works on the extended corner of the blade and not the retracted corner.
The function is that at a predetermined load the valve opens and allows the 'full' cylinder to dump over to the 'retracted cylinder.
In general plowing practice you are using the retracted side to move over snow banks and that is the loaded side where the banks are hiding the obstructions (like curbs) that are of concern . </font>

Piloon is correct, if the plow is hard over there is no more give. Tractors tend to be used at low speed though compared to pickups and such.

Our plow is on a little Chevy Tracker so if the plow is already angled and I hit something substantial it just shoves the front end over.
