790 with a 300 FEL, brand new, FEL won't lower to the ground... I am guessing this is an air bubble but not comfortable yet working with hydraulics and this is obviously retaining pressure. Doesn't matter if it is on or off... quick help on what should be a simple question??? THANKS - Matt

Hi Matt, welcome to TBN.

Does it go up ?, Does it curl/uncurl ?
Check your hose connections just under left step. Make sure they're plugged all the way in.

It does everything but go down. all lines are secure but when I move the affected line around I can get the implement to drop. no obvious leaking or sounds...

Thanks for the reply and TBN is awesome! A main resource for me as I figured out what and which tractor to buy.

If you were to disconnect that hose and look at the end of it you'll find alittle tit. This 'tit' is a valve that keeps the fluid in the hose when you disconnect.
When you connect, there's a thingy inside the coupler that depresses the tit to open.

Well, that's the way it's supposed to work. I'm guessing yours is ether not pushed in all the way or buggered up some how.

Careful, if it's buggered up and you disconnect, a lot of oil could/might escape. So try to remove the pressure by ether blocking or something.

So when you swap both lift/lower work port hoses with both curl/dump work port hoses the problem goes away? Does the curl/dump then exhibit the problem? If not then you had a connection problem. When you reconnect the 4 hoses back to their original configuration does the problem return?

The loader cylinders will self bleed after raising/lowering and curl/dumping a few times.

This sounds like a classic QC (quick coupler) problem. Unseat and reseat the QC's.

Thanks everyone for the input. I have been very careful making sure all the pressure is out of the lines - who wants gangrene???

After multiple rounds of disconnecting/reconnecting/switching/operating I have come to the scientific conclusion that I won't be using my FEL this weekend...

It seems that the quick connect is bad and I've used it less than 1 hour - bummer.
I'll leave this repair up to the dealer and just have to find other projects to occupy my time…

Thanks again to everyone who replied.

Best regards,
Matt

Confirming that dealer replaced quick coupler and that solved the problem. They also found a leaking line on the backhoe attachment.
Hope this isn't signs of things to come...
Local dealer was very helpful in getting this fixed, providing a loaner 990 while mine was being repaired.

Thanks for all the input.
