FEL saving grace?

I had my first real scare with my Tractor yesterday. My cousin asked me to help him move some stone and dirt at his place. He helped me put washer fliud in my rear tires, so I agreed. I was moving dirt like a dandy when not realizing that the place we were dumping it was a old outhouse hole, I got into the hole with the front tires. /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif The left side was hanging there, and the right rear was off the ground about 2-3 feet. The FEL stopped me from going any further when it hit the ground. I know that the FEL gets you into a lot of problems, but I've had about 3-4 times where it saved my butt. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif I think FEL's value as a safety feature or underrated.

Little note for Roy, Yes I was wearing my seltbelt, and thanks to you I remembered that day.

That would make you pucker up, good thing you came out of it ok. Reminds me of driving across the back 40 and finding the old septic hole that was built with a wood cover years ago.

Thanks PJ, Yes had me tense for a bit. I dumped the ground that I had in the bucket, and used the FEL to push myself out. I stayed pretty calm. Cousin said my eyes were pretty wide. The hole was about 4 feet deep.

When i first bought my tractor, i didn't have any weight on the back. i had a full bucket of loam going downhill. Of course, I was in 2wd. My rears came up and I did a nose roll for about 10 feet before I could drop the bucket and stop myself. Don't underestimate your FEL's ability to act as an e-brake!!!
