Ls U5030C
I bought a new U5030C in November 2010. Very satisfied.

I would think there would be an override on the FEL self leveling feature, but I can not find it. Any advice?

Welcome to TBN:D

There are two types of SL systems used, one is mechanical and one is hydraulic. The mechanical setup cannot be overridden, but sometimes the hydraulic can be. I am not familiar with your setup, but hopefully someone else is or you could post some picture to help us help you.

What do you mean by "override"?

All of the systems I have seen allow you to curl or dump the bucket regardless of self level feature or not.

If you mean deactivate then it would only be the hydraulic version and some and some don't have this feature.

The self leveling feature operates on the u-5030 till you
move the joy stick to the left or right.
Then it is over ridden.

I have only heard of Kubota having the on-off option for the hydraulic self leveling feature.

I think he means the "float" leveling?

My Kubota L2250 has a self leveling or float feature, you quickly push the control lever straight forward, it remains in the "Float mode" until you move the control lever again. Hope this helps.

To elaborate on my problem:
a. the bucket will dump regardless of the distance off the ground.
b. the bucket will not close (curl?) past the point at which it is leveled.

Are the cylinders fully retracted at this point?

Does the self level work when raising and lowering or just raising?

Mechanical: would level all the time.

Hydraulic can be either raise only or raise and lower.

I googled your machine and (assuming it has the LS loader) it is mechanical SL. From the pics I saw you should have lots of curl. Did it originally have curl and now it doesn't? According to the LS website you should have 46 degrees dump and 35 degrees rollback. If you measure the angle between full curl and full dump how much rotation do you have?

Maybe you don't have the correct bucket for this tractor? If the back of the bucket is not at the correct angle to match the loader geometry then this could create the problem you have - actually you would have too much dump and not enough curl.

Since it is a new machine don't you have warranty?

Here is a pic I borrowed:
