I am contemplating a project that I am sure has been considered before but I couldn't find it. I would like to build a snowblower to mount on the FEL. I think it would need to be self contained. I am thinking of using a second engine since I don't think my tractor puts out enough hydraulic flow to power a big enough hydraulic motor. Maybe it would be a better idea to use a pto pump to power it. I want it probably around 6 1/2 feet wide, which I would figure would need around a 30hp engine. I may modify a 3 point blower, not sure if it is worth trying to build one from scratch.
Anyway, I haven't really worked out the details yet, but am asking for advice on how practical this would be. I really hate the idea of a rear blower and having to drive backwards all of the time. Having it on a quick hitch for the FEL would make it easy to switch between that and bucket for other uses. But I also think the ability to raise it would be nice for occasional big snow that we get and could make 2 passes quite easily. I am not necessarily looking for build advice I guess, but for for the usefulness of this and is it worth it. But feel free offer any advice (even on building if anyone has done it). I always like to hear other opinions because I know there are always other considerations I have not taken into account.
