Well for quite sometime the bucket on my B1550 would droop. It was quite annoying really. It would take long enough that I was always startled when it hit the ground.

Today about 30 minutes into 3 hours of FEL work the bucket started rising all on it's own and very quickly. This was rather nerve racking as it would rise to the limit in the time it took me to back up and turn around presenting a rather dangerous situation of a fully loaded bucket 6 feet in the air.

I noticed some leaking of fluid around the control valve .

Is my control valve shot? Is it re-buildable? From older post it doesn't sound like something I want to do myself or is it?

3 months ago I fixed leaky rear wheel seals behind the brakes. I probably overfilled the hyd system. the fluid level is really difficult to read on the dipstick. When the bucket was drooping I thought my system may've been low but the level reads high on the stick. Would having too much fluid in the system blow seals or cause other problems??

TIA

Looks like you are not having much luck with your question. I read it earlier and just got finished doing some tractor work. Must have been work...I stopped after 8 hours cause I was feeling tired... /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Anyway, I'm no expert by any means, but it sure sounds like it must be the loader control valve. If the valve did not leak through at all (and they all seem to, to one degree or another), the loader should stay in whatever position it is in when you center the joystick.

Now the loader dropping might be a sign of worn seals within the cylinders that lift it. But bad cylinders would no cause the bucket to go up.

Overfilling the hydraulic system if it caused a seal inside somewhere to fail, would probably cause system pressure to fall rather than rise...so if you damaged something in the tractor by over filling, in my mind it seems unlikely that it would cause either the loader valve or loader cylinders to fail in any way.

So what would cause the loader to go up when it should be stationary? Either something bad within the loader valve, or something on the outside that is shifting the spool. Like a piece of rubber trash that somehow get inside the cover, and jammed in the linkage? Unlikely, but if it is not something outside the valve causing the spool in the valve to shift, then it must be something wrong inside the control valve.

Don't know if they are rebuildable or not.

Hope someone else here can give you more help. I have take the liberty to assume I may have helped a little.. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

thanks Henro. Yes I think you did help. The joystick feels like it is spring loaded that is it won't stay in the neutral position. I think your idea about something external creating that push back has merit. I'll look for that the next time I am on the island.

Perhaps I posted in the wrong area. maybe the question should be in the parts/repairs section. I'll wait a coupla days more.

thanks again,
dave
